APIIT launches scholarship scheme for undergraduates

The Asia Pacific Institute of Information Technology (APIIT), one the largest provider of foreign degrees in Sri Lanka, recently kicked off a new scholarship scheme for undergraduate students in need of financial aid.
The newly introduced merit scholarships and sports scholarships will be awarded to deserving school students and high-performance athletes, who will begin their first year of undergraduate studies at APIIT.
The scholarship schemes were designed to enable and support students with outstanding academic records and/or who are gifted in sports, seeking to enhance their potential through their higher education.
To qualify, the student must be a Sri Lankan citizen and possess outstanding GCE A/L results (either Local or London), have strong leadership qualities, a good extra-curricular activity record and have demonstrated their potential in a sport if applying for the sports scholarship. In addition, they must be eligible for admission as an undergraduate student to one of the undergraduate degree programmes delivered at APIIT.
The merit scholarships available at APIIT are: One scholarship per APIIT School, covers 100% of the tuition fees for an academically outstanding new student entering the first year of any full-time undergraduate programme at APIIT. The student must maintain a 65% semester average throughout to continue receiving the scholarship.
Two scholarships per APIIT school covers 50% of the tuition fees of the entire study period. The student who receives this scholarship must also maintain a semester average of 65% throughout to continue receiving the scholarship.
APIIT offers 10 non-renewable one-time scholarships of Rs. 100,000. The student must have obtained a minimum z-score of 1.5 in the GCE A/L Local curriculum or 3 A* passes in the GCE A/L London curriculum in order to be eligible for this scholarship.
Applicants for this scholarship must meet the entry requirements for the programme of study they intend to enroll in and continue to obtain satisfactory grades or GPA in order to retain the scholarship.
Applicants should have exhibited outstanding achievements in their chosen sport and be currently competing or have previously competed at a national or international level.
Applicants will be assessed on the basis of their achievements in the chosen sport, their academic performance and likelihood of success in the chosen programme at APIIT, as well as their ambassadorial qualities in terms of representing APIIT publicly.
All applicants must submit a designated scholarship application form with relevant documentation to determine their eligibility. The deadline for applications is May by 31.
