As the newest step towards enhancing academic and professional excellence, we are planning to provide the young capable with an opportunity to earn a B.Sc. (Hons.) in Business and Industrial Mathematics enabling them new exciting experience which will result an inevitable improvement of the respective discipline. Apart from the state sector Universities, there is hardly any other institution in Sri Lanka to offer an opportunity for students to obtain a degree in B.Sc. (Hons.) in Business and Industrial Mathematics. As a result, a considerable number of capable young people who have completed Advanced Level (Local, Edexcel and Cambridge Syllabi) dispossess the opportunity to follow a degree though they are interested in and equipped with a good knowledge in Business and Industrial Mathematics. According to the present situation Business and Industrial Mathematics education at University Level in Sri Lanka is not sufficient to cater the requirement of the fast-developing business and commercial establishment in the country.
This program has been designed to cater these requirements and produce well qualified and competent Business and Industrial Mathematics whose service will be immensely beneficial for the development of mathematical activities in Sri Lanka. This growing demand from the local educational sector motivated CINEC to plan out B.Sc. (Hons.) in Business and Industrial Mathematics degree program at the time private universities maintaining a proper quality standard are encouraged by the government.
The entry criteria of the candidates who wish to apply for BSc (Hons) in Business and Industrial Mathematics (SLQF level 6) should fulfill the minimum qualification as specified by the UGC. The candidates must submit an application form along with the required evidence and exception will be granted for the students with recognized equivalent qualification. However, such exceptions will be granted after evaluating the case individually by the academic board of CINEC. The minimum entry qualifications for the program, evaluation procedure, selection criteria, and student intake are outlined below.
Minimum Entry Qualifications
Candidates should have one of the following qualifications:
Category I
Those who have passed GCE A/L examination with three passes in Mathematics Scheme including “ S “ grade for Combined Mathematics.
OR
Any other qualification of comparable standing recognized by UGC of Sri Lanka such as Edxcel/Cambrige with three passes in Mathematics Scheme including “S“grade for Combined Mathematics.
