Course Description

The Diploma in Laboratory Technology  qualification carries much weight as a certificate issued by an incorporated professional body. Further, recognition is given to the Diploma in Laboratory Technology Certificate by some public sector and private sector organizations who pay the fees of their employees and also give increments and other credit for those employees who successfully complete the course.

Entry Requirements

The following categories of personnel are eligible to follow the Diploma in Laboratory Technology:

Diploma in Food and Material Technology (FMT) and Diploma in Clinical Laboratory Technology (CLT) Stream

• GCE Advanced Level
• GCE Advanced Level pass in Chemistry
• GCE Ordinary Level with Science, Mathematics and English
• 10 years experience as a Laboratory Technician

Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) Stream

• Should have passed six subjects with four Credit Passes including Sinhala Language/ Tamil Language, Mathematics, Science at the G.C.E. (O/L) examination in one sitting and should have passed English Language in not more than two sittings.
• Should have passed any 02 subjects from Physics, Biology, Agriculture, Combined Mathematics in one sitting with a Credit Pass for Chemistry in one sitting at the G. C. E. (A/L) Examination.
• Should be not less than 18 years and not more than 35 years of age at 01.01.2020

Only those who qualify in MLT stream will be eligible to apply for MLT registration.

This programme is carried out entirely in English medium.
