Course Description

The Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) is the world’s largest and most prestigious professional body for Marketing which provides an internationally recognized Marketing qualification, opening seamless for opportunities for Marketers. As the National Body for Marketing in Sri Lanka, SLIM has a responsibility to facilitate all activities for the development of Marketing in the country, while SLIM has its indigenous Postgraduate Diploma in Marketing, it also looks at opening the avenue for those Sri Lankan students who wish to obtain a foreign (UK) postgraduate qualification in Marketing. This is the same reason for SLIM to be an accredited study center for CIM.



Entry Requirements

01.Level 4 - Certificate in Professional (Marketing/Digital Marketing) One or more of the following is required to gain entry onto this qualification:

02.CIM Level 3 Introductory Certificate in Marketing

03.CIM Foundation Certificate in Marketing

04.Any relevant Level 3 qualification

05.Any UK degree or international equivalent

06.International Baccalaureate (equivalent to NQF Level 3 and above)

07.Level 6 - Diploma in Professional (Marketing/Digital Marketing)

08.One or more of the following is required to gain entry onto this qualification:

  • CIM Professional Certificate in Marketing or CIM Certificate in Professional Marketing
  • Any relevant Level 4 qualification
  • Foundation Degree in Business with Marketing
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from a recognized university with at least one third of credits coming from marketing content (i.e. 120 credits in Bachelor's degrees or 60 credits in Master's degrees)
  • Level 7 –Postgraduate Diploma in Professional Marketing
  • Entry level is dependent upon the candidate’s currency and relevance of qualifications and Experience.

  • One or more of the following is required to gain entry onto this qualification:

  • CIM Professional Diploma in Marketing (either 2003 syllabus or 2009 syllabus)
  • CIM Advanced Certificate in Marketing
  • CIM Digital Diploma in Professional Marketing
  • A business or marketing Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (or an equivalent qualification) where a minimum of half of the credits come from marketing modules
  • A range of experience working (normally three years) at Senior Marketing Management level that has provided potential candidates with ability to evidence that they can meet the learning outcomes for the CIM Professional Diploma in Marketing if required.
